Celebrating six years as Asheville’s premiere improvisational comedy troupe!
The OxyMorons’ unique brand of edgy, sometimes irreverent, but always funny short-form improv shows have been a cornerstone of the Asheville comedy scene since 2002. And we’re not settling for anything less than another five years!
If you’ve ever seen the hit British TV import Whose Line is it Anyway, which turned into the hit American rip-off Whose Line is it Anyway, then you will recognize our shows immediately. The OxyMorons play short-form improv games that are built solely on audience suggestions. Some of our games are familiar, tried and true versions you’ve seen on TV. We also pride ourselves on creating brand-new, original, never-before-seen games like "One-Minute MacGyver" or "Gods and Morons". I’d try to explain them here, but you’ll just have to come to a show to find out!
On top of that, we’re constantly creating new and exciting show formats. One of these ideas we’e already debuted is called Zombie-Prov – a zombie comedy, from start to finish, in about half an hour. The end of the world has never been so funny. We’re also working on a reality show spoof, special holiday shows, improv battles, roasts, and more. If you want a special type of show, we can do it!
The OxyMorons have performed in a variety of locations, both in Asheville and around the Southeast. The Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company, 35Below, The Orange Peel, Diana Wortham theatre, The Salem Academy, and Bele Chere only begin to name all the locations and festivals where we have performed. One of our proudest moments of all was being chosen to perform at the Dirty South Improv festival – one of the largest improv festivals in the country!
Most importantly, The OxyMorons are a very community oriented troupe. Our roots are in Asheville and we do our best to help the community that’s given us so much already. We have provided entertainment for dozens of benefits and fundraisers. We have worked closely with Loving Food Resources, The Seth Olson Community Playground, Band AIDS, The American Cancer Society, and many more. We’re always happy to help and help make people happy.
The best part is: no two shows will ever be the same. Yep. Like a hilarious snowflake, our shows have so many variables (and they’re completely made up) that you won’t see the same scene twice. When we say unique entertainment, we mean it!
The OxyMorons are always in the mood to entertain!
