THE OXYMORONS RESPECT THE MPAA…WE THINK

Ratings systems are there for a reason. The OxyMorons respect the fact that some audiences will want something different than another audience. To that end, we can cover the entire spectrum. We do shows from G-rating all the way up to NC-17. You want a blue show for a baudy party? We’ve got you covered. Conversely, we have done shows for children that would have made Dr. Seuss proud.

When we are booked for a show, we make sure to ask what kind of material our host wants and then honor that request. We adjust our humor to your venue. We don’t see this as a matter of censorship; it’s a matter of courtesy.

THE OXYMORONS GIVE HIGH-FIVES, NOT HAND-OUTS

The OxyMorons have been providing their time and services for private groups and parties since our creation. No one is above helping a good cause and the OxyMorons are no exception. In the past four years we have been seen all over the Western North Carolina area performing in shows that benefit others. Some of our benefit shows have been:

• BandAIDS – We performed alongside local musicians to raise teenage awareness about AIDS.
• The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival – This art festival/block party was extremely successful in promoting local arts and businesses.
• Asheville-Buncombe County Technical Community College – The “Improv Slam” highlighted local comedy outlets to benefit the AB tech drama department.
• Loving Food Resources – The OxyMorons were part of the entertainment line-up for a large fundraiser. LFR is a community based volunteer organization that provides food and care items to local residents living with terminal illnesses (including HIV and AIDS).
• Buncombe County Council On Aging – We’ve done several performances to entertain those who benefit from this non-profit organization that provides senior adults with an improved quality of life.
